Recently a U.S. Schroth Method expert spoke at the Peoples Health portion of the Russian National Congress in St. Petersburg, Russia on the topic of nonsurgical options for idiopathic scoliosis. Dr. Marc Moramarco relayed to the audience that more and more people in the US are now desiring conservative scoliosis treatment. He pointed to an increasing trend in US health consumers choosing the Schroth Method as an effective alternative to ‘watch and wait’ or surgery.
He spoke on how the Schroth Method’s scoliosis specific exercises helps improve spinal function, vital capacity and postural appearance as well as educates and empowering scoliosis patients with increased awareness of their scoliosis patterns. Thus allowing them to take an active role in decreasing pain and even improving the postural component of their curves.
He also spoke of research support for the effectiveness of combination therapy using bracing with scoliosis-specific exercise for the treatment of not only adolescent but also adult scoliosis.
We applaud Dr. Moramarco’s efforts to spread the message of benefits of conservative treatment of scoliosis across the world.
